Recent fire accident at Madurai Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple have given an alarm sign to the authorities and this has resulted in issuing notice to the shops at Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, Trichy to vacate the shops functioning at the 16-pillar and four-pillar mandapams.

After the recent fire accident, the Joint commissioner of  Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple has issued a notice to vacate the shops inside the temple premises stating that this decision is taken in the safety and interest of the devotees and general public, and also stated that the shops are marring the architectural beauty and brightness of the mandapams, where efforts at renovation were on. However, the notices have not mentioned any specific deadline.
