Hadiya alias Akila who converted as Muslim and married Shefin Jehan was in the lime light, as it was alleged that she was forcibly converted on the grounds of ‘Love Jihaad’. The high court of Kerala annulled her marriage and directed to go with her parents. With almost two and half years of legal battle, finally the supreme court gave a verdict that Hadiya marriage was legal and the right to choose her life was according to the constitution.
Now, Hadiya has sought compensation from the Kerala government for the loss incurred after the high court nullified her marriage and sent her away with her parents. Addressing the press and media persons along with her husband, Hadiya told that she was literally under house arrest and had lost two precious years of her life. She had not directly criticized her parents but said that they were under the influence of some anti-national forces. Narrating her experience at her house, Hadiya said all those who visited her wanted her to return to Sanatana Dharma. Moreover she has not withdrawn the complaints against Rahul Eashwar, who allegedly tried to convert her back to Hinduism.
