Tamil Nadu continues to boast of some of the best institutions in engineering, management, pharmacy, medicine and arts and science, as per the NIRF ratings.
The Indian Institute of Technology – Madras continues to be the best educational institution for engineering in the country. It maintains its lead as the second best institution overall, next only to the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, as per the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), 2018.
The NIRF sprang a pleasant surprise when it ranked Bishop Heber college, Trichy which ranked 3rd In the country and the Presidency College ranked 5th, Loyola College (6th), Madras Christian College (10th), Women’s Christian College (22nd) and Stella Maris College for Women (30)in the Arts & science colleges category.
The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Tiruchi has retained its first position among the 31 NITs in the country.
Bishop Heber College has retained the top position among colleges in the State for second consecutive year in the ranking. The college is now ranked third nationally with a score of 67.63. Last year, it was at the fourth position with a score of 61.18.
Four other city colleges were among the top-100 in the rankings in the category of colleges with St.Joseph’s College ranked 28 with a score of with a score of 54.41.Holy Cross College was ranked 42 with a score of 52.51, National College was ranked 74 with a score of 47.81, Jamal Mohamed College was ranked 83 with a score of 46.98.
