Trichy Railway Junction which has good patronage from the public and the number of users have increased a lot but the lack of basic facilities has been annoying the passengers even after representations from the public and associated service organisations.
The train destination boards fixed on various express trains are confusing the passengers which should be properly mentioned on the trains. It was requested to introduce trolleys, at least on a trial basis as women and senior citizens are finding it difficult to carry their luggage. The passengers arriving by an autorickshaw or car are blocked midway by placing barricades, hence are forced to walk for more than 100m to reach the station building.
The railway authorities and the RPF are allowing only a few inside while making other passengers, particularly women and senior citizens walk from a distance which shows that officials do not treat all the passengers alike. Furthermore, it is not acceptable to collect Rs 30 per head for using the battery car. It was initially introduced only to help senior citizens to reach their platforms. However, to make revenue from each and everything, the railway authorities have started to collect Rs 30 per head from elderly passengers also. Even the Physically challenged are not given proper rights and consideration from the railway authorities.
Will the railway authorities give ear to the plea of the passengers who demand their basic rights and amenities?
