The Southern Railways has introduced UTS mobile application that will enable passengers and users to buy unreserved train tickets, season tickets and platform tickets in Trichy division from April 14.
Passengers can download the app from Google Play Store and Apple Store and install it on their phones after furnishing necessary details.
Passengers can use the app at nine stations – Trichy, Ariyalur, Thanjavur, Mayiladuthurai, Villupuram, Vridhachalam, Kumbakonam, Pondicherry and Nagapattinam.
The passengers can book tickets from locations within 5 km from the above nine stations. Payments in this GPS-based application can be made using ‘R-Wallet’, railway’s own exclusive e-payment wallet. There will not be any additional charges for using R-Wallet to make payments. The passengers can top up the R-Wallet at any booking office counter or online through IRCTC’s website www.irctc.co.in.
The booked tickets will be downloaded to the passengers’ mobiles. No printout is required. This ticket cannot be transferred from one mobile to another in any mode including SMS. The mobile app-based tickets cannot be booked inside railway premises including platforms and trains. This move will help prevent ticketless travel and will help the passengers planning their journey in the eleventh hour.
A self-help assistance is available at www.utsonmobile.indianrail.gov.in. The division has set up a 24-hour helpdesk (044 25351621) for the passengers in this regard. The passengers can also seek help by sending emails to firstname.lastname@example.org
