As the Common Wealth Games ended at Gold coast, Australia, many athletes participated from Tamil Nadu bagged medals bringing pride to Tamil Nadu. Hence the Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami has announced cash incentives for five sports persons from Tamil Nadu, who won medals at the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2018, at Gold Coast in Australia.
Table Tennis players Sharath Kamal and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran clinched the silver and the bronze medal in the mixed doubles and the men’s doubles events respectively.
Squash player Dipika Pallikal Karthik won two silver medals, while Saurav Ghosal clinched one. Joshna Chinappa won silver in the women’s doubles event.
While silver medal winners would get a cash prize of Rs. 30 lakh for each medal, bronze medal winners would get Rs. 20 lakh.
Earlier, Rs. 50 lakh cash award was announced by the chief minister for Sathish Sivalingam for clinching Gold in weightlifting in CWG.
The Chief Minister also sent a personal note congratulating each of the CWG achievers.
