The ministry of railways has announced sports policy for Railway Protection Force (RPF) as part of promoting sports in and attracting young and talented sportspersons to the force. According to the policy, henceforth, recruitment would be made to a separate sports in RPF, officials said.
Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) has granted full-fledged affiliation to Railway Protection Force Sports Association (RPFSA), said a letter circulated by the railway board dated September 12. The affiliation would help RPFSA recruit young talents and further sharpen their skills. It would ensure that sportspersons got adequate training and coaching for domestic and International competitions. In order to attract candidates to join RPF and to continue in the force, the required incentive would also be allocated, they said.
The recruitment will be made as per the procedure and criteria laid down by the board. They will be recruited under sports quota and put under scientifically designed and wisely planned 24 weeks RPF training. During the training, the sportspersons would be provided facilities and time to continue training in the particular event to which they belong. The assistance of coaches from RSPB could also be availed as needed. The players and teams would be permitted to participate in both national as well as international competitions and tournaments.
The selection of sportspersons for various games and athletic events to form RPF team for all levels would be conducted in January. Outstanding sportspersons would be eligible for incentives and out-of-turn promotions as per the guidelines of the RSPB amended from time to time. A senior officer from RPF Trichy in railway division opined that the initiative would boost young talents who aspire to join RPF.
