TRICHY: Four days after cyclone Gaja wreaked havoc in Cauvery delta districts, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Today morning reached Trichy Airport to take stock of the situation in the cyclone hit districts including Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, and Pudukkottai.
Official sources said that the CM will inspect the affected hamlets on road as well as through a helicopter to commute between the four districts from Trichy.
Officials said that Palaniswami on road will first inspect the damages caused by Gaja cyclone in Machuvadi of Pudukkottai town after landing at a helipad established at Pudukkottai Armed Reserve police ground.
After reviewing the situation with senior officials, the CM on air will reach the helipad set in Pattukkottai RDO office from where he is likely to visit Soorapallam hamlet in Thanjavur district situated at 5 km distance from RDO office. The CM will then visit Mangudi village in Tiruvarur district to distribute relief aid for affected people in the cyclone at a marriage hall followed by a helicopter visit to Nagapattinam town where he distributes relief materials to people in South Poigainallur hamlet near on Velankanni road.
The CM is expected to return for Chennai from Trichy airport on Today afternoon. Since the affected hamlets across all the four districts are tense with people protesting for past three days condemning the state government, a heavy posse of police personnel was deployed across the routes and hamlets to be visited by the CM.
