Trichy: Director of collegiate education (DCE) has instructed principal of Periyar EVR College, Trichy, I Julie to hold an additional charge of Trichy regional joint director (RJD) of collegiate education.
The interim arrangement was made on Tuesday after the teacher’s body raised the issue with DCE on Trichy RJD office remaining headless.
S Usha, the incumbent Trichy RJD had gone on a medical leave from November 16. However, she did not hand over the charge to an in-charge officer.
Teachers from aided arts and science colleges took up the matter to DCE who in turn instructed Usha to hand over the charge to Julie, as principal of grade -1 government colleges are considered equivalent to RJD.
Association of university teachers (AUT) while alleging shortcomings in the administrative practices followed by the incumbent Trichy RJD, said that her apathy has led to inordinate delay in releasing the service and monetary benefits due for the aided college teachers.
Further, the zonal secretary of the association of university teachers (Trichy zone) K Raja said that Julie is appointed as in charge RJD without financial powers.
This is likely to further delay the salary of the aided college teachers as all the files pertaining to the salaries of the aided college teachers must be approved by the office of RJD.
