He alleged that the payment was made to the job consultant in the last week of October. However, when the agent did not respond after receiving the payment, they realized that they had been taken for a ride. Preliminary inquiries by the CCB revealed that the consultancy agency had been functioning for the past two months only and that its office was vacated when the victims started questioning the delay in securing them the job.

The agent targeted job aspirants in Kanyakumari district which was far away from Trichy. He lured the job seekers by widely advertising about the job opportunity in Kuwait through wall posters. Attracted by the offer, the aspirants approached Shajahan and paid the money in the hope of landing a job on foreign soil. Inspector Ramesh said that investigation was on to gather information about the two people.
