TRICHY: As part of Swachh Survekshan 2019, a pan-India cleanliness survey to identify the cities pursuing best waste management practices, Trichy Corporation on Wednesday launched awareness vehicles to boost public support for cleanliness activities. The awareness vehicles would also record feedback on civic body’s performance, which is mandatory to fare well in the survey.
The four minivans would have a couple of corporation employees on board each to persuade the public for recording their feedback in three modes. Each minivan covering a zone would carry a set of seven questionnaires for which feedback should be sent to the Union ministry for deciding the performance of a participant city in the survey. “The questionnaires will have questions with yes or no answers to record the public view about our activities. Public by sending their feedback to Swachh Bharat Mission and by downloading the official Swachhata App can ensure 850 marks for Trichy,” said N Ravichandran, corporation commissioner. The vehicles would use loudspeakers to sensitize people about the city’s participation in the survey and support required from the public for improving the ranks.
Corporation officials said that the citizen feedback can be recorded in three methods including through a toll-free helpline 1800-101-1994, Swachhata mobile App, and through the official website www.swachhsurvekshan2019.org. The city has been consistently losing its Swachh survey rank since 2016, when the city was placed third and slipped to the sixth rank in 2017’s survey, and was placed at 13th spot in 2018 Swachh survey.
Officials said that efforts are underway to improve the city’s position in the survey that commences from January 4, 2019. With survey direct observation, citizen feedback and comprising documentation, where the feedback plays a major role in deciding city’s rank among 4,000 participants.
