TRICHY: Complaining of ill-treatment from teachers and noon meal scheme workers in the school, students from Khajamian Higher Secondary School,Trichy, staged protest in front of the office of chief educational officer on Madurai main road on Wednesday.
They alleged irregularities in handling groceries meant for noon meal scheme in the school. About 20 students from the government aided school in Kajahmalai arrived at CEO office on Thursday morning. They said that one of their teachers in the school has been ill-treating them with lewd remarks.
The students said a recently appointed noon meal scheme worker has been manhandling them in the school. “We took up the issue with the head master Khaleel Rehman, who continue to remain silent over the issue. This is why we approached the office of the CEO,” said a student of class 10.
Members of student federation of India (SFI), who accompanied the students, demanded removal of teachers who have been misguiding students apart from ill-treating them.
The chief educational officer M Ramakrishnan said that he has ordered district educational officer-level inquiry into the whole row.
“A similar issue was raised a couple of weeks ago following which I had summoned the school correspondent and the head master and instructed them to rectify the issue.
“Now that the students have again come on the road, we will ensure that the issue is sorted out at the earliest,” he said.
