Speaking to reporters after inspecting the arrangements at the Ammankulam grounds, the venue for the event, Mr. Vijaya Baskar said the jallikattu would be conducted in accordance with court stipulated guidelines by putting in place adequate safety and security measures.

The venue would have collection point for the animals to arrive, separate area for VIPs to watch the event and dedicated places for examination of participating bulls and tamers besides huge galleries for the visitors, he said.

Around 2,000 bulls and 500 tamers were to be registered for the event. The bulls and the tamers would be subjected to complete medical examination before being allowed to participate in the event, the Minister said.

Last year, Pudukottai witnessed the most number of jallikattu among the districts in the State with more than 25 events.

This year, permission has been granted for conducting jallikattu at six places so far.
