Trichy: Villagers of Valapiramankaadu in Peravurani taluk of Thanjavur district were surprised to observe some strange changes in the water of an irrigation well located on an agriculture land on Thursday.
The water rose and turned fizzy at the bottom prompting the district collector and revenue officials to inspect it and order the concerned department officials to study the phenomenon. The villagers noticed that the water level of the well had been rising with bubbles emanating from the bottom.
The well was owned by a farmer named Singaram who had dug it in 1982 at a depth of 40 feet and with a 100feet radius. So far, the well has been maintaining a moderate level of water. However, in the last few weeks, its level started to rise and it was near to its brim. Moreover, bubbles were also seen coming out from the bottom. Shocked at the development, Singaram and the villagers informed the village administrative officer who in turn informed the district administration.
Based on the information, district collector A Annathurai and other revenue officials arrived there along with experts from the geological department and inspected the well.
