National Institute of technology (NIT) Trichy will host smart India hackathon – 2019 software edition starting from Saturday – and will become one among the 48-nodal centre in the country to do so.
The programme is a nationwide initiative by Ministry of human resource development (MHRD) to engage technology savvy students to come up with innovative and feasible solution to industry related problems. NIT Trichy will host eight problem statements formulated by Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS) and Chennai district small scale industries association (CDISSIA).
The winning team from each of the themes will be awarded prize of Rs 1 lakh. A total of 32 teams consisting of 121 boys and 77 girls from various institutions across the country will take part in the hackathon. They will work on the areas of waste management, healthcare and biomedical devices, robotics and drones, agriculture and rural development under the guidance of their mentors.
Students from NIT Trichy will be in Dehradun, Jaipur, Panipat and Jamshedpur taking part in the hackathon. The hackathon will see the participation of over a lakh student from across the country forming 1,400 teams having eight students each.
