Shrimati Indira Gandhi College in collaboration with all the ladies clubs of Tiruchirappalli celebrated International Women’s Day on 8th March 2019 at Lotus Hall, Hotel Femina, Trichy. Dr.K.Meena, Former Vice Chancellor, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli presided over the function. Mrs. Anuradha Krishnamoorthy, Carnatic Musician and Actress, Tamil Film and Television Industry was the Chief Guest. On behalf of the organizers, Vocational Excellence Award presented to the Chief Guest Mrs.Anuradha Krishnamoorthy by Dr.K.Meena and Mrs.Jembaga Ramakrishnan. Awards were presented to Mrs. Kannagi Chandrasekar, Executive Committee Member, Menstrual Hygiene Management Consortium (MHMC) and President, Woman NGO, Trichy, Dr.G.Anitha, Former Dean, KAPV Medical College, Trichy, Mrs. Kanni Yuvaraj, Managing Director, Poorvika Mobiles and Mrs. Mangalam Srinivasan, An expert in the art of Rangoli for their contribution to Society and excelling in their respective fields by the organizers.
Earlier Principal Dr.S.Vidhyalakshmi welcomed the gathering. Dr.K.Meena in her presidential address stressed on the importance of empowerment of women through an anecdote. She also emphasized on the happiness of women and encouraged them to reach high level in all fields. She embodied women as Sakthi with full self confidence.
The Chief Guest, Mrs. Anuradha Krishnamoorthy was confident that any house wife can manage any form of companies with her experience managing a household for a whole month. She asked the women to go as a tourist abroad but and not settled down there but come back to their mother land. So that they can follow the Indian Culture and Tradition that is abundant here.
Prizes were distributed to all the winners of various competitions held at School, College and in the Ladies Clubs. The President of all the ladies clubs, Trichy were honored including Mrs. Jembaga Ramakrishnan, Co-ordinator of All Ladies Club, Tiruchirappalli.
