Director General of Railway Protection Force Arun Kumar on Thursday called upon the force attached to Tiruchi Division to rise up to public expectations as they were entrusted with the task of providing armed escort on trains.
He also exhorted them to enhance their professional efficiency, which would help in preventing theft of passenger belongings at railway stations.
Presiding over a ‘Suraksha Sammelan’ organised at RPF Zonal Training Centre here, Mr. Arun Kumar, who is on his first visit to Tiruchi after assuming charge as head of the force last year, highlighted the railway administration’s vision to the gathering.
Over 150 RPF and Railway Protection Special Force personnel participated in the meet that lasted one-and-a-half hours.
He also laid emphasis on staff behavior while dealing with rail travelers and the general public.
Mr. Arun Kumar also touched upon other issues including transfers.
The Director General heard the grievances of personnel at the Sammelan, said RPF sources.
Thereafter, he held a separate meeting with RPF Post Commanders of Tiruchi Division during which he called upon the field-level officers to have a complete grasp of the topography of the railway station they were in charge of.
He asked the Post Commanders to chalk out security plan of the respective railway station they were in charge as it would enable them to deal effectively during an emergency situation.
Mr. Arun Kumar sensitized them to their role in the upcoming general elections and the steps they needed to take to prevent illegal transportation of contraband and arms and ammunition.
