TRICHY: DMK president M K Stalin on Thursday expressed disappointment at the people for electing wrong people to rule the country. “The country is reeling under a crisis for the past five years.

The future of the people is at stake. Their rights are denied. It happens because wrong people are at the helm of affairs due to the mistake committed by the people of Tamil Nadu,” said Stalin holding Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami responsible for the situation. Stalin was speaking while campaigning for IJK candidate T R Pachamuthu in Musiri in Trichy district, which comes under the Perambalur parliamentary constituency. In his 50-minute speech, the DMK president launched a scathing attack on Palaniswami and Modi.

He also exuded confidence of making a clean sweep in the Lok Sabha elections. Staling also accused the AIADMK government of attempting to keep the Pollachi sexual abuse case under wraps to safeguard their party functionaries. He also charged the chief minister of being the conspirator behind the Kodanad estate robbery and the five murders connected to the case.

Stalin ridiculed the promise of AIADMK in its election manifesto to abolish NEET exam and termed it unachievable for the latter. “They passed resolutions against NEET in the assembly and we backed it. Despite sending them to the central government, nothing happened. The state government had no guts to question the central government on the action taken on the resolution,” he said.

The DMK leader assured to bring a government medical college to Perambalur constituency, revive the special economic zone (SEZ) and implement a combined drinking water scheme from Puliyancholai to Uppiliyapuram, Thathangarpettai, Musiri and Thuraiyur areas.

Pachamuthu, who spoke on the occasion admitted to have committed the mistake of aligning with the BJP with the hope of good governance during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. “Since I realized that I was on the wrong side, I now join hands with the good people,” he said. He ended up as second runner-up in the 2014 election as IJK candidate in BJP symbol.
