The 17th Graduation Day function was celebrated in Saranathan College of Engineering on 23rd March 2019 (Saturday). The Chief Guest of the function Shri.M.S. Suryanarayanan, Associate Vice-President & Head, Chennai Mahindra City Development Centre, Infosys Ltd. was taken to the dais through an academic procession by Dean (R&D), College Secretary, Principal, Dean (H&S) and Heads of the departments, all donned the ceremonial robe. Shri S.Ravindran Secretary declared the graduation ceremony open. Principal D. Valavan presented the Graduation Day Report.

The chief guest in his Graduation Day Address insisted on the necessity of the students to have a strong knowledge in the basics of the subjects they studied and keep themselves updated in line with the current trends. He advised them to gain knowledge on the new age technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. They should have commendable communication skills and focus on achieving the goals through effective and efficient team work, he added. In this context he stressed that it should be appropriate to use the word ‘TEAM’ instead of using ‘I’ repeatedly. He concluded by quoting the words of Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam, ‘To succeed in your machine you must have single-minded devotion to your goal’.

A total of 667 candidates which includes 587 under graduates and 80 post graduates received their degrees on stage from the Chief Guest. Among them 9 students who had secured university ranks were presented to the dias by Y.Venkatramani Dean (R&D) and were awarded medals by the chief guest. After the oath taking by the graduates the ceremony came to an end with the singing of National Anthem.
