TRICHY: City police, on Sunday, registered a case against an 11-member gang for allegedly abducting a businessman at gun point and robbing him of gold ornaments.
According to the complaint from K Senthilvel, 44 from Iluppur in Pudukottai district, he was abducted by the gang at Woraiyur Main Road around 1 pm on March 4, Thursday. Senthivel has construction, real estate and stone quarry business. ia He accused Woraiyur Samy alias Samynathan, Kottapattu Jai alias Jaikumar, Rapusal Palani alias Palanisamy, Kukur Balu alias Balu, Indian steel Thangavel, Sai Tharun, Palaniappan, Vivek, Tamil alias Tamilan, Arun and RMK Karuppaiah of abducting him. In his complaint, he said that the gang intercepted him and pulled him out of his car at gun point before abducting him using another car. He also complained that the gang kept him in a shed at the farm of one of the accused in Pudukottai area and demanded his property documents from his wife over phone.
One of his relatives lodged a complaint with the Srirangam police and the case was transferred to Woraiyur police for further investigation. In the meantime, the gang harassed him and robbed his SUV car, 12 sovereigns of gold ornaments, a watch, three cell phones and Rs 3.75 lakh cash, following which they let him off on March 5 at Trichy- Pudukottai highway on a condition he should pay Rs 30 lakh to get back his car and valuables.
