Trichy: Members of the All India Rail Act Apprentice Association (AIRAA) have decided to support the Congress-led UPA alliance in the forthcoming general elections alleging that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has snatched their employment opportunity.
Addressing reporters here on Monday, coordinator of the association A Arockia Regan and Raja charged that only people from North India are being given preference for appointments to vacancies in railways, nationalised banks and other public sector organisations. More than 90% of them have already been inducted in vacancies that existed in those sectors in Tamil Nadu. This is because of the policy level change made by the Tamil Nadu government when O Panneerselvam was the chief minister, they claimed.
During 2017, the Tamil Nadu government announced permitting eligible candidates from other states to appear for Group 4 examinations in the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) which the opposition parties had condemned.
