TRICHY: Trichy has become the first division in Southern Railway to migrate from the manual filing system to e-office for its day-to-day activities. RailTel Corporation has executed the cloud-enabled software which is expected to provide a reliable, efficient and effective way of handling office files and documents. Officials said e-office will bring transparency in the functioning of railways as it fosters a paper-less culture which will not only save operational costs but also promote a green way of working. Railways had been bogged down by the manual way of handling office documents so far which not only consumed time but also drained the energy of its workforce. E-Office has been started with the aim to change the scenario and bring a digital culture to railways. Increased accountability, data security and integrity besides saving the staff energy and time on unproductive process and procedures are the other benefits of the system. The system has been executed under the mission mode project of the central government’s National e-Governance Programme.
RailTel Corporation, a mini ratna (category-I) PSU, is one of the largest neutral telecom services providers in the country owning a Pan-India optic fibre network covering all important towns and cities of the country and several rural areas.
