TRICHY: Keeping up his promise of giving free seats in higher educational institutions to students from his constituency, Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi launched free higher education scheme on Thursday. Addressing reporters in Trichy on Thursday, he said a total 300 students, 50 each from six assembly constituencies under Perambalur Lok Sabha constituency will be given free seats in the SRM group of institutions.
Also the chancellor of SRM University, Paarivendhar asked students from the constituency to apply for their desired courses through the website www.ijkparty.org. Asking only deserving students to apply for the seats, he said a separate committee will be formed to select the candidates.
While June 15 is the last date to apply for the same, students can select from a range of courses offered by SRM group of institutions. His second major task would be to give job opportunities to 300 people in the constituency, he said adding that farmers produce will be procured directly from the agriculture land.
Assuring to raise his voice in the parliament for needs of his constituency, he vows to address drinking water scarcity which remains as the primary concern of the people. “Apart from the constituency fund, we have decided to procure a separate vehicle to dig bore well to meet the drinking water needs. MP office will be established at three places for the speedy redressal of grievance from the people,” he said.
Apart from working on railway line connecting Ariyular, Perambalur, Thuraiyur and Namakkal, he said all efforts would be taken to develop the constituency using his own money as I had promised during the election campaign, he said.
