Infrastructure development work at the Fishing Harbour at Mallipattinam has been completed.
The Fisheries department took up the project to develop dockyards, net mending halls, auctioning halls and cement concrete roads at a cost of ₹60 crore.
The Mallipattinam fishing harbour can accommodate 213 mechanised boats, 102 vallam boats and 967 country boats.
Apart from this, net mending halls on Karaiyur Street and Erikarai Street at Mallipattinam have also been readied along with other basic infrastructure facilities at a total cost of ₹3.23 crore.
Inspecting the completed works on Sunday, Collector A. Annadurai said around 4,300 fishermen would stand to benefit directly or indirectly from the development works implemented by the Fisheries department.
