Burglars broke into a restaurant and took away cash and electronic gadgets at Puthur in Trichy during the wee hours on Monday.

A complaint was filed by S Thirupathi, 54 from Shanmuga Nagar in Trichy city, the manager of the biryani restaurant near Puthur four road junction. After his business hours, he closed the shop around 1.30 am and left for home. When he returned to the shop the next morning, he found the shutter lock broken. Further, he found that Rs 43,000, a tablet worth Rs 2000, two mobile phones worth Rs 3000 and Rs 1000 were missing.

The burglars gained entry into the shop by breaking open the shutter. The total value of the stolen properties was Rs 49,000. He lodged a complaint and a case was registered with the Woraiyur police on Tuesday. In another incident, burglars struck the house of S Fakrudeen, 32 in Chinna Sourashtra Street in Woraiyur. He and his family members had gone to his mother-in-law’s house on June 15. When they returned on Monday morning, they found the front door broken.

The burglars had gained entry by breaking open the door and unsuccessfully tried to break open the bureau. The police said that there was no property loss. Yet, the Woraiyur police registered a case.
