IIM-Trichy honoured top five percent of the academic performers

Indian Institute of Management – Tiruchi (IIM-T) on Monday honoured top five percent of the academic performers in the first year of the 2018-20 batch with Director’s Merit Awards.

The award, constituting a certificate and cash component of ₹5,000, was presented to eight students during a ceremony organised for inauguration of the ninth batch of Post-Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) and seventh batch of Doctoral Programme in Management. Chief guest, Harsh Sachdev, Executive Director (Regional Services), Marketing Division, Indian Oil Corporation, presented the awards to the students in the presence of Director Bhimaraya Metri. The awardees were Vadlamudi Swetha, Navisa, Amit Nerundula, Karthigeyan, V. Rajan Harkare, Devarun Dutta, K. Namitha and Neeta Miriam Cherian.

Addressing the ninth batch of PGPM students, Mr. Sachdev referred to maintenance of physical and mental health, environmental sustainability, empathy and faith, as seeds and sowing of which would bring forth long-term benefits. He encouraged the future management professionals to follow Green HR Concepts in right earnest, while emphasising on environmental sustainability.

Develop ideas to tackle problems and engage the world in sync with new paradigms that include Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Analytics and Block Chain, Mr. Sachdev emphasised.

The 235 students in the ninth batch (2019-21) of Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) at Indian Institute of Management – Tiruchi (IIM-T) include 25 admitted under the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) Quota.

There will be one more section for the first year students this year, in addition to the existing three, each with 60 students, Upam Pushpak Makhecha, Chairperson, Media Relations and Associate Professor (Organisational Behaviour and HRM) said. The numbers of boys and girls was in the ratio of 60:40, she said.

All participants planted saplings later in the day in association with the Tamil Nadu Forest Department.
