The civic body has instructed school managements to submit a report on students taking leave owing to fever, as part of its anti-dengue drive.
Trichy Corporation had earlier distributed Nilavembu extract to 1.73 lakh students across the city. During the dengue preparedness meeting organised for representatives of school managements, here at Thevar hall on Saturday, the corporation provided a common email ID for the schools to furnish the names of students skipping classes citing fever, which will be followed-up by team comprising 12 health inspectors.
In order to ensure early diagnosis and prevent any possible outbreak of dengue during the rainy season, 367 schools here have been asked to keep a watch on students taking sick leave citing fever. “If fever is the reason, the concerned class teacher will have to update us through the school management.
The schools will have to send the list of students who have taken leave due to fever on a daily basis,” said city health officer Dr A Jaganathan. “Our staff will inspect the vicinity the particular student down with fever hails from. The vicinity will be checked if there is any potential dengue breeding source,” the CHO added.
