Two days after the special status to Jammu and Kashmir was revoked, political parties and outfits intensified their protest against the unexpected move by the BJP-led central government.
Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) and its political wing Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK attempted to siege the regional passport office in Trichy on Wednesday. As many as 200 members led by its state administrative committee member R M Hanifa reached the passport office in Marakkadai in procession raising slogans against the revocation of the special status to Kashmir under Article 370 and Article 35 A of the Constitution of India.
They attempted to barge into the regional passport office. A large posse of police personnel deployed in the passport office campus prevented them from entering the campus.
