The Railway Board continues to operate various trains such as passenger special trains, freight trains, migrant workers trains, and oxygen trains amid the corona waves.
Railway is fully involved with its staff. So far, more than 2,000 railway workers have died from the Corona epidemic. Every day thousands of employees become infected.
The railway has 125 major hospitals and 586 primary health centers has set up for Corona treatment and also set up 82 hospitals to control the loss of life of staff.
During the 2nd wave of corona. 2539 Oxygen beds, now increased to 6175. Similarly the intensive care unit beds facility was 273. Is elevated to 573.
Pushawal Johnson in Maharashtra, Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh, Elaganga Railway Wheel Factory in Karnataka and Walter Railway Station in Andhra Pradesh are producing railway oxygen on its own at four locations.
Funds are currently being set aside to produce oxygen at five more locations.
Work is underway to set up oxygen production centers at Bhubaneswar in Orissa, Byculla in Maharashtra and Perambur in Tamil Nadu. Procurement process has started for Palavali Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh and Bhopal Station in Madhya Pradesh for oxygen production.
Diagnosis of corona infection P. C. R Medical Laboratories the Railway is located in the North, South Central, West, North Central, and South East Zones. Work is underway to start a laboratory on the Central Railway.
The Board has allowed the appointment of doctors, nurses and health workers on contract basis as required and the use of railway buildings and train carriages for conversion into hospitals.
Covaxin and Covshield vaccines are being administered to employees through 165 Railway Vaccination Centers.
Employees also use state government vaccination centers. Of the 12 lakh 50 thousand employees in the railways, 2,88,659 have been vaccinated with the first dose and 76,072 with the second phase as of last week.
Sixty-two percent of the railways’ medical staff and 73 percent of the security forces staff have completed the first installment of vaccination.
Employees are constantly advised to be vaccinated. It has also set up special monitoring teams to monitor the spread of the disease among its staff.
The management, employees and unions have joined hands and the railways are fighting hard against Korana.
